PATH, or “People Assisting the Homeless”, is one of the largest nonprofit developers and social services providers in California, operating in 26 locations throughout the state, from the Bay Area to San Diego.

Since its founding in 1984 in Los Angeles, PATH has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness – connecting clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing.

PATH Ventures, started by PATH in 2007, builds and operates affordable rental homes paired with on-site services. PATH Ventures has built 850 units with another 500 units in the pipeline.

PATH operates a LA County-sponsored centralized platform, known as LeaseUp, which matches vulnerable populations with available housing units in the private rental housing market throughout LA County. The platform helps landlords navigate the process of filling units with people in need of housing. LeaseUp partners property owners and property managers with housing non-profits. These organization offer resources including incentives and case management expertise in matching homeless clients with appropriate housing, and continuing to work with formerly homeless renters. Landlords get guaranteed rent and deposits through partner non-profits; the non-profits support placing renters, and provide ongoing case management. Learn more about the program here.
