Abode Communities is an affordable housing developer based in downtown Los Angeles. Abode is known as both the longest serving affordable housing provider in SoCal (founded in 1968) and the only affordable housing provider in SoCal to have architecture, property management, real estate development, and resident services all in-house.

Abode manages 36 projects totaling 2,402 affordable units serving 6,200 low-income individuals.

Highlighted Projects:

One of Abode’s latest projects – Grandview Apartments – is a 100-unit $64 million permanent supportive housing development that will be financed from the City of Los Angeles’ recent Prop HHH bond funding in addition to other recently available sources of funding.

Abode is part of the team developing California’s first publicly-run urban boarding school, in partnership with with The SEED Foundation, the nation’s first and only network of public, college-preparatory boarding schools for students in vulnerable living arrangements, and ExED, a nonprofit supportive services and financial adviser for charter schools. The project, known as SEED LA, located the corner of Vermont Avenue and Manchester Boulevard in South Los Angeles (map link). The project will serve 400 students in grades 9-12, opening fall 2022.
