Imagine LA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the cycle of family homelessness and chronic poverty via a supercharged blend of mentoring and social services in the Los Angeles County region. Established in 2006, Imagine LA began as an initiative of Bel Air Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, launching their first pilot Family Mentorship & Empowerment Program with one family and one mentor team in 2008. President & CEO Jill Bauman continues to lead and grow the program to new heights.

Imagine LA’s Family Empowerment & Mentorship model blends intensive professional case management with the lasting power of mentorship. Imagine LA trains volunteers – from community groups, corporate partners, faith communities, or anyone with a passion for helping others – to be mentors to assist families in need. Once mentors are trained, Imagine LA matches those mentors with families emerging from homelessness or at severe risk of homelessness for a 12- to 18-month program, helping the families clarify their goals and access to health, career, and educational resources.

The results are inspiring. All Imagine LA Families remain in housing; incomes are up 71%; youth are thriving in school and graduating; and all receive regular medical care and are building crucial wellness habits.
