The University of Southern California is a private research university in Los Angeles, California – consistently ranked as one of the top 20 universities in the United States. Founded in 1880, it is the oldest private research university in California. For the 2018–19 academic year, there were 20,000 students enrolled in four-year undergraduate programs and 27,500 graduate and professional students.

Highlighted Initiative:

Working with a steering committee of ten university deans and community partners, USC launched The Homelessness Initiative in 2016 to focus USC’s resources on eliminating homelessness. Recent accomplishments include affordable housing development solutions through The Lusk Center for Real Estate, data and artificial intelligence applications with Keck/Viterbi’s D-Health Lab, research with the Price Center for Social Innovation’s Homeless Policy Research Institute, clinical services, among many other efforts listed here. USC has also been a thought leader in innovation around housing and homelessness, hosting events such as the 2018 Social Innovation Summit: Innovations in Urban Housing (Report, Overview).
