Great Streets
In Los Angeles, streets are the city’s largest public asset – covering over 18% of the land mass. They are also the centerpieces of neighborhoods—places where residents live, work, learn, and play every day – reflecting the character of the people and of the city.
Mayor Eric Garcetti started the Great Streets Initiative in 2014 to serve, support, and strengthen the vibrant corridors that are the backbone of Los Angeles, focusing on 15 corridors across the City – coordinating city resources, building partnerships with communities, and leveraging additional resources to transform streets. As of 2020, there 18 Great Streets in the program.
