The People Concern is one of Los Angeles County’s largest social services agencies – serving over 6,000 residents, providing a fully integrated system of care for our most vulnerable neighbors including housing, mental health and medical treatment, and social services. Remarkably, 92% of program participants placed in permanent housing The People Concern never experience homelessness again. Learn more about their homeless services here.

The People Concern was formed in 2016 in a merger of two trusted social service organizations based in Los Angeles County, OPCC and Lamp Community.

Highlighted Projects

The People Concern operates the first interim housing site under Mayor Garcetti’s A Bridge Home initiative – El Puente in El Pueblo neighborhood. Learn more about the project here.

Now partially open, Kensington Campus is the largest fully integrated community of its kind in the Antelope Valley. Upon completion, the 14-acre therapeutic community will offer 156 interim housing beds and 150 permanent supportive housing units, with the first 100 planned to open in Spring 2020.

The People Concern’s Lamp Community on Skid Row was featured in the 2009 drama film, The Soloist, featuring Jaime Foxx playing mentally ill musician Nathaniel Ayers and Robert Downing Jr. playing LA Times columnist Steve Lopez.
