APROP Barcelona Temporary Housing is a 42 unit (35 two bedrooms, 7 one-bedrooms), 8-story housing development in the Glòries neighborhood Barcelona. The project was led by Barcelona Municipal Institute of Social Services (IMSS) and Barcelona Municipal Institute of Housing and Renovation (IMHAB), as part of the APROP program for provisional housing launched by the City of Barcelona (under the leadership of the Barcelona’s City Council). The APROP program is designed to offer a swift, efficient, and pragmatic response to emergency situations caused by shortage of housing, keeping neighbors from having to leave gentrified districts of the city. The project is located across the square Glòries Tower, a business and shopping hub in the city.
